Solar Hot Water System Service and Operations Manual — Revision 5

This document starts with a system description then moves into system operations and component function descriptions followed by a section on water tank nomenclature. The operations manual also includes information on warning signs and hazards, as well as service and replacement parts information. Warranty coverage, figures and tables, and a list of acronyms and their meanings are also included. SRCC OG-300 approved systems are listed on the SRCC website www.solar-rating.org. Our systems are now eligible for Oregon DOE rebates. See the 2006 Solar Domestic Water Heaters Yield Table on the www.oregon.gov website.

Note: This report is old, but contains the procedures for solar system sighting, roof mounting, roof penetrations and general installation instructions. The system descriptions are dated, but the materials of construction and roof mounting practices are still in use for current structures and systems. We recommend reading the guidelines for system sighting, roof mounting and roof penetrations as a minimum. The rest is very informative on heat transfer fluids and system flushing and filling. We were unsuccessful in getting a new paper or electronic version of this report from the U.S. Government Printing Office, so the PDF downloadable here is a scanned version of the paper copy of the report we had in our files.
